Welcome to my

"D&RGW in On3"

Departing Sonjora, our train passes through the rock cut then starts slowly down the 4% grade toward Ojito. The scenery is dramatic where the track runs along a ledge cut at the base of the rocks beside the Sonjora Creek. The view looking upstream from the junction of the Sonjora Creek and Ojito Creek is a great photo opportunity for visitors.

After crossing the Howe Truss bridge over Ojito Creek, our train passes through a small grove of trees and pops out at the road crossing at Ojito. Cars from up the line destined for Ojito require the crew to battle the “Timesaver” again before moving on toward Rio.

Work complete at Ojito,  our train traverses the trestle at Dry Gulch then stops for water at the water tank before pulling into the west end of Rio Yard. Cars must be put into the yard tracks or industries as shown on the switch list for the day.  Once this has been done and the caboose returned to the caboose track, our loco heads for the ash pit.  Ashes dumped, she will slowly roll onto the turntable to be turned back facing west.  From here, it is back to the Engine Shop and our day is complete.
